31 Ways to Meet and Marry a Fabulous Customer - The ConsumHERist

I couldn’t help but read this article as my daughter recently broke up with her boyfriend and being the drama queen is convinced that Mr. Perfect is only a figment of her imagination. I thought if I read the article Pari LivermoreI could share with her the 31 Ways to Meet a Quality Man. For a moment I actually thought that Pari Livermore, author of ‘How to Marry a Fabulous Man’ took one of my workshops titled Winning Strategies for Women Selling to Men.  There are many similarities or could it possibly be that selling to a man is not very different from capturing the affection of a man?

Let’s face it whether you are seeking a business commitment or a marriage commitment getting to yes is a sales journey that begins at hello. Here are just a few of the 31 pointers. See for yourself what I mean.

#18) Host an event - While this is designed to help singles meet new people we encourage sales professionals to occasionally host a client event and ask them to bring someone who would benefit from learning more about your business.

#15) Be a flirt - In other words give eye contact. Where have I heard this before? Eye contact is critical in the sales process and creates not only connection but clearly demonstrates your commitment to giving the prospect your undivided attention.

#11) Join organizations - Of course what salesperson has not heard over and over again the need to network and network and network some more!

#21) Look your best - for those of you that read my book, Winning the Toughest Customer: The Essential Guide to Selling to Women, you will recall the importance of first impressions and how to score big from the get go.

#22) Visualize what you want - Selling 101.

#27) Become an expert - This is where people build trust. It’s Step 4 in my proprietary sales process. This is where your back becomes straighter and you can strut your stuff. Exude confidence. Who isn’t attracted to someone with lots of confidence!

#25) Write your own commercial - Do I hear elevator pitch anyone?

#24) Be your best self – This means polish your people skills and most of all your attitude! Can you imaging buying from a salesperson with lousy people skills?

#29) Be positive – It’s one of the leading traits of a successful sales professional. People are naturally more comfortable building a relationship with a positive person (actually the reason my daughter dumped her beau - he always saw the glass as half empty).

#30) Don’t be too aggressive – It’s one big turn-offs in sales. Gently aggressive is acceptable and expected. Too aggressive and even if you make the sale your chances of seeing that customer again are nil.

The mating game is really not a lot different from the selling game.  There are many similarities in the way you seek out one another, show your best qualities and reach an agreement.
