Real You: The hug felt ’round the world

Posted on | April 3, 2009 |

Didn’t you smile when you saw the video of the stoic Queen of England putting her arm - ever so briefly - around Michelle Obama? I mean, come on, was that a great image or what? Aside from the hoopla about breach of protocol and the like, the hug represents just exactly what it is women do for society. We bring people together. It’s beenthat way since the beginning. Women have been the community builders, the charity creators, and the peacemakers. Sure, we can get fiery when defending our kids or our homes, but for the most part, we’re a pretty agreeable lot. Even the queen thinks so. That’s why so many of the advertising targeted to us - or more correctly, not targeted to us just forced on us - needs more heart. And more art. Imagine if your ad made us feel the way that hug made us feel. That’s your goal for this week. Oh, and spread some hugs yourself!

The hug felt

Kaira Rouda is spreading the love and the hugs in Columbus, Ohio, even though it isn’t quite Buckingham Palace. She has found, just recently, that she is addicted to Twitter and hopes to spend more time hugging in person than online this weekend. If not, you’ll find me there!

Great blog! (Found the link to this post through the Marketing To Women group on LinkedIn). Women ARE the community builders, the connectors, the peacemakers… I do a lot of work with women around that at my retreats, and about our connection from heart to heart, and the about understanding that the world will be changed at it’s roots by the women.

And YES! We need more ART!! :)
    Thanks for the post.
